The Latin American Baseball Classic is widely considered the premiere international baseball event of the year. 2017 is proving to be no different, as the LABC has increased tournament size and international representation.

For the first time in over a decade, Mexico and Nicaragua will be entering the tournament, which is held annually in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. There is no question this will improve both competition and cultural experiences for all attending nations.

January 1, 2017

This year's tournament is held August 2-8, 2017 and will feature national teams from the United States, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Cuba, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Canada will not be entering this year.

Due to increased national representation, new flights have been added to each age division, which historically have been 10U - 18U. Since Latino baseball abides by an "age division" catagorization, each age bracket will feature athletes in similar ages.

"Although the United States is age specific, Latin baseball has always welcomed the age divisional ideals that help younger athletes improve quicker. Playing up is crucial to our developmental process." Stated the LABC organizing committee.

The LABC experience is second to none, as it combines world class baseball competition with cultural and humanitarian interactions for athletes. Set in the Caribbean, there is nothing but positives that can come from such a life changing experience.

"I see so much growth from our athletes during their time in the Dominican Republic. From the competition to the interaction with 3rd world nations, I feel there is nothing like it in the United States." Stated USA-LABC Director of Team Operations Jim Parque.

Although there is more than just baseball, the LABC is all about the competition. Large crowds, flag waving, and international pride are all at the forefront of the LABC experience.

USA-LABC team rosters are comprised from 30+ national tryout events held across the States - annually attracting 5000+ players nationwide. Tryouts are held for the 2017 campaign in thirteen different states and are hosted by some of the best baseball organizations in the country.

"It is a great opportunity for our national teams to be associated with some of the best in the country. We are gaining access to some incredible talent and it is only because of these great baseball people whom support what we are trying to accomplish for kids everywhere." Stated USA-LABC Director of Operations Sean Taunt.

If you are interested in a chance to get rostered and represent your Nation in the LABC, attend a national tryout event or send a video into Info@bigleagueedge.com.
