Big League Edge Performance Baseball™ conducted extensive reviews on baseball equipment in June, 2009. We tried out the most popular brands for gloves, bats, and everything players use to get their baseball career the best equipment money can buy.

We took into account how the gear performed, durability, and craftsmanship. Our professional baseball coaches analyzed all three aspects and the following is what we came up with.

TOP RATED GLOVES - Glove Care  |  Choosing Your Glove
WILSON A2000 G4
Wilson Sporting Goods has been making baseball gloves since 1914. The Wilson’s A2000 G4 glove with an 11.5 inch infield glove pattern features some of the most advanced design in the industry. Its improved SuperSkin technology helps maintain a stable pocket. The A2000’s Dri-Lex Technology keeps moisture away from your skin so your glove hand stays cool and dry, helping in the field and when it’s your turn at bat. And all the design technology comes wrapped in supple, durable Pro Stock hand selected leather.

RAWLINGS PRIMO SERIES PRM1150S
From its beginnings in 1887, Rawlings has been making gloves for Major League Baseball. The glove’s full-grain leather, from Tuscany, has a tight grain structure that result in a virtually flawless appearance. Inside there’s an Italian calf lining that creates a luxuriously smooth feel—plus wool padding for added cushioning. Further, the leather and lacing in every Primo Series glove undergoes an intensive hot-stuffed injection treatment to repel water and increase durability. It all results in a glove with looks, performance and feel that are unsurpassed.

AKADEMA REPTILIAN AXX 105
The gloves and other baseball equipment from Akadema are pretty much the opposite of traditional. This glove is a good example of what we mean. First there’s the “near fingerless” design—it creates a more natural pocket that delivers better shock absorption and ball control. This design also means greater strength and durability. The Reptilian’s steer-hide leather has been treated to look and feel like snake scales. The result? A better glove grip on the ball—and a pretty cool look, too.

TOP RATED BATS - Bat Care   |  Choosing Your Bat
EASTON STEALTH COMPOSITE BASEBALL BAT
Easton has been producing baseball bats since the mid 1970's. Easton won the most innovative product award at the Nano 50 for its Stealth Comp CNT bats featuring the Nanotube technology. This new technology creates a wide sweet spot along the entire length of the barrel. Their patented 2-piece ConneXion technology is "hinge like" in its ability to transfer energy from the handle to the barrel for a quicker and more powerful bat. With its eye catching four-color graphics along the barrel, the Stealth is simply beauty in action.

LOUISVILLE SLUGGER MAPLE WOOD BAT M9

DEMARINI VEXXUM BASEBALL BAT
The DeMarini Vexxum bat, a mainstay of top college players, are constructed with flex tuned composite handles and aluminum alloy (Vexxum) barrels which makes them almost indestructible. The flex handle allows the bat to flex even before impact creating a greater transfer of energy to the ball regardless of what kind of pitch is thrown and also creates a monstrous sweet spot. This "Best Of" bat has a built in rotation index to help you spread the hit load around the circumference of your bat, making it last longer.
